Ode To My Dear Tissues

So apparently its Doppelgänger week on facebook...post a picture of your celebrity look-a-like and all that stuff. Whatever. i don't always play along with the trends, but after seeing everyone else do it i couldn't help but try to remember who people have told me i look like. The last time i was told i look like anyone famous it was this girl:
Drew Barrymore.
I'm not exactly sure i see it. Husband says he sees it, so i'll go with it though.
Do you see it?

So that's that. On to the next, the reason for my post today.

Ode to My Dear Tissue

Oh dear tissue,
how I find comfort in your fluffy white goodness.
You always stand true and firm against everything that blows your way.
You never seem to rub me the wrong way either.
You save my clothes from the unsightly mascara that runs with my tears
and, dear tissue, you care for my nose and keep it as soft as a babies bottom when i lose all control of it.
Oh! how can I not help but love you.
Thank you dear tissue.
Thank you!

Ahhh-Chew!
Yes friends, i am sick. It started with a few sneezes the other day, then progressed to a sore throat the next morning that got better as the day went on. Then the next day was full on congestion, sore throat, swollen glands, and exhaustion. I was asleep in my bed before 10 last night, which is almost unheard of for me because Husband was staying overnight on base and i never get to sleep before 2am when he's gone. But today was the worst. I woke up before 5am, and never got back to sleep after that. All of it, the sneezing, coughing, congestion, sore everything from head to toe. I can't get my nose to stop running. The tissues i've gone through lay around me crumpled up in piles... I'm exhausted.

But, i have come to appreciate the greatness of the Puffs Plus Tissues because of this. Back in the day when i had roommates, they would go through my tissues like candy, but i don't remember any of them ever being sick so i stopped buying the tissues for them. But after getting married and stocking up the house with the essentials the tissues managed to get back into the shopping cart again and i've had this box since we moved. I don't know why or how though because tissues are one of those items you don't realize you don't have until you need them. Tissue, because i don't use it often, is not something i invest much money in either. But i remember buying this particular box that i carry around the house with me like a security blanket right now. I almost didn't buy it, i almost got the store brand because it was just tissue. Gasp! But i saw this particular box and i just knew i wanted it:

(its a scan of the box because i wanted to figure out the new scanner. sorry)
Isn't it pretty?? i thought it was anyways. And what's another $.50 for the good stuff when its something you don't buy often?
So, dear tissues, thank you for taking care of me. I'll never go back to store brand again.

So today i'm sick. On a Sunday. I love church, and i missed it. Our ward is great, the people are great, i love hearing the talks in Sacrament, and i'm in nursery with the little kids so its that much greater. But people get sick sometimes and we have no control of the day of the week it happens. But this Sunday, of all the Sundays i could have been sick was a bad one. I was supposed to give a talk in Sacrament meeting today..... i hang my head in shame every time i think about it. I was asked to give this talk 3 weeks ago, and amazingly i was completely done writing it last Saturday....i thought i was supposed to give it last Sunday so i showed up at church with it ready and willing to share, but came to find out when we picked up the program that i had got my dates wrong. My bad. I was prepared for today though, and that's what's supposed to matter. BUT, as i'm the walking dead today and didn't go....shame is what i feel.... Husband had to go to church and give his talk without me. I have never heard him speak in church before, though i've spoke 4 times since we started dating, so missing that was a downer for me too. But I feel like they could think i was trying to skip out on speaking. There are people that do it, i had friends like that, and i know i thought about doing it a few times when i was younger, so i would understand if they thought i was skipping out on it. Not this time though, i swear. if you came to my house right now you would see the misery. I'm saving the talk though, and if they want me to speak again, i'm ready any time....

So i've given my thanks to my tissues, i owe one to my husband too. He's been taking care of me as much as the tissues, if not more. The glass after glass of water, the blanket and pillow so i can camp out on the couch, the being the great husband that he is....i love him more for it.

but my tissues are running a nice 2nd today :)

Husband Says the Darndest Things

I'm due for a blog, i know. I'm sorry. Really REALLY sorry. Not working, i'm not spending as much time online as i used to, and having Husband home (who loves to have all my attention when he's not being entertained my something else) keeps me busy. And then the moving. Heck. We had Husbands sister and brother-in-law come visit for a day the other week, which was lots of fun. They gave me a great excuse to cook yummy food (Salmon, garlic red potatoes, salad, and chocolate eclair cake...yum!), and we got to do a little site seeing around downtown to show them the town. I had been looking for an excuse to check the Dazzled By Twilight store they opened the other month.

But yeah, my 2nd installment of Husband Says:

Yesterday i was sick, we've been sick with colds for days and yesterday was pretty bad for me, so i wasn't much in the mood for cooking. I only ate a bowl of cereal all day so Husband said he would go out and get me any food i wanted. Subway was my choice :) $5 foot long is the way to go any day for me. I would LOVE to do the Subway diet... ;) So he went out to picked up our dinner for us. When he got home he handed me the bag with the sandwiches and went into the kitchen to grab something to drink. I ended up opening the wrong one, that looked kind of yummy i might add. When i asked him what it was he got for himself he said:

"The new one. Tungsten Chicken."
....What?
"You know, the new one. The Tungsten Chicken. Tungsten."
....Tuscan Chicken?
"...............yeah."

He makes me laugh. He's so funny some times. I love him. He really does say the funniest things without realizing he's even funny. He can't say "Irresistible". He says it "In"resistible. I've corrected him so many times about it he's confused and has to say it both ways to cover all his bases. We laugh about it every time.

So there it is. A blog from me to you. We're in the middle of moving now. We're packing up and closing down cleaning and getting ready this week. The movers are coming on friday, and we're heading south on tuesday. I did a little crafting last week that i started blogging about, i just haven't finished typing it. I'll try to finish it some time this week if i can cuz it's super cute. i also need to figure out how to fit in new cell phone shopping in there some how.

Wish us luck! :]]We'll try to keep updated whenever we have Internet

A Busy Week and Things to Think About

I'm closing my office this week.
I've been running a branch office for a company out of California since the beginning of the year, and when i told them we were going to be moving to Sacramento they decided to close the office here. We're closing it down a little earlier then we planned, we had decided on the 24th originally, but i'm kind of glad its this week instead of next week. That means i can dedicate thursday and friday to cleaning my house for Husband to come home to, and when his sister and brother-in-law come see us next week I'll be able to hang out with them instead of having to go to work.
My other good news this week, i already mentioned. Husband is coming home! It's about dang time too. He left the 1st of March, and except for 3 precious days in May when i flew out to see him, i haven't had my husband for almost 5 months. That's TOO LONG, especially for newly weds. This should be the longest we will have to spend apart from here on out (knock on wood).
When he gets home, we'll be able to get a solid date for when we're moving, so that will be a good thing. You really can't make any plans for anything if you don't have a solid date. John was having a hard time grasping this concept, kept asking me to find housing and a new job and cancel our services here, but the houses that are available now most likely won't be if we don't move until the end of August. And the same goes with a job. And with notifying everyone when we're leaving, he was telling me to say the beginning of August some time....some time when? What if we're stuck here longer and we had already told them the 1st? He's been stressing about it, but i've moved enough to know how the system works and what needs to be done. Military life is a lot of hurry up and wait, so don't plan anything until you know for sure. And even then, things can change. When i was younger my family was supposed to move to Alaska, the movers had come and were shipping it north when the orders were changed on us to go to Guam. That's just how things happen some times, and you can't plan for it, so you just have to go with it.
So, there's a lot going on, and more to come. My sleeping has been so off for the last month too, I've been so tired lately so that's slowing me down a little (i slept in until 11 two days in a row over the 4th of July weekend, and i haven't done that since i was in middle school), and then i'm not sleeping at nights how i would like to either. Last night i woke up at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep until after 5. Ugh. I'm hoping it'll be better when i get to sleep in the same room with Husband again though. SOON!
Blogs my be even fewer and further apart for a little while, but once things settle it'll get better ;)

Of all the luck...

Dang it. I've been telling myself for about a week that i should start taking some decongestant to make sure i don't have extra pressure on my ears so i can take my trip next week. "Preventative Medicating" was my plan. But, i didn't do it and now i'm paying for it. That's right, I'M SICK. blah. Terrible news when i'm about to go on vaca to see my husband. I went to the store on monday to pick up some things that i've been needing. I had planned to get the meds then...but i forgot to get it. So then i planned to stop at wal-mart on my way home from Young Womens last night (wednesday). I went to work feeling fine, i came home from work feeling fine, i ate a sandwich and then i noticed: "hey, my throat feels kind of sore...". So i made my priority to get to the store after YWs. I went and i felt about the same, dropped off the beehive girls i had driven around for the nights activities, then made my beeline to the store for drugs. The Halls Vitamin - C Drops are magic on sore throats, and i got the Sudafed for my sinuses to make sure they clear up and don't mess up my ears any more then they already are.

Don't fly with an ear infection. Actually, don't travel long distances with an ear infection. I have learned this from experience. Ears are not something to mess with. I've had the unpleasant experience of rupturing my ear drums several times. Four times in my right ear, and two in my left. I had both rupture at the same time twice. Once while i was driving over the passes from Montana up to North Idaho, and once while flying into Spokane. I'm almost positive i'll be deaf when i'm 60 if not sooner. The ringing in the ears only gets worse.

So, i got the drugs home and started medicating. I said my prayers and tried my best to get sleep last night, but this morning i woke up at 6 (an hour and a half before i usually get up!) with a killer sore throat and a crick in my neck that i still haven't managed to get out. The only up side to waking up so early was that it gave me time to wash a load of whites because i forgot i was out of undies.

It was a year ago, minus a week or so, that i started getting sick exactly like this. Disaster. Disgusting. Horrible. It was my last day of work because i was moving the next day to stay with my dad until my wedding, John had just gotten off a 4 month tour on his ship to South America and had flow up to see me before i left, and my dad had flow up to help me move. My throat hurt like this, and i was all clogged up in the head, and i had this fever, but we all went to a friends house for dinner. I don't remember what all we ate, but i do remember the brownies. They were delicious. The Costco kind that even had the chocolate chips in them. i ate 3 of them i think. Yummy. Why would i remember the brownies i ate a year ago you ask? Because, i remember what they tasted like when i threw them all up. Not the same. i don't eat a lot of brownies any more. When we got back to the house i went in my room and started sobbing from how gross and sick i felt. Ten minutes later i was upstairs throwing up in a bowl. I threw up 8 times that night. Poor sweet John sat and watched me do it too, and he was so sweet to stay by my side. Any man that can sit and watch me do that is worth spending eternity with. That's a real man. I've never been that sick as an adult before and i want to try to avoid doing it again.

I'm not throwing up yet, but right now it feels like i could be heading that direction :( i've decided its allergies. That's the only explanation. I'm not getting it from work because i work alone, just like i was last year. Where i'm living now is a lot like Coeur d' Alene with all the trees and everything, so that's the only thing i can think of. But this time, if i do get that sick again, i don't have my John around to help take care of me :( And, if i really do get that sick again, then i need to get it over with right away this weekend so i'll be well enough to travel to see john next week. Pray for me!! If you know of a better way to get rid of the sore throat, tell me please. Please, please, please! i have to get better soon...
